Though there had been power outage even in earlier years but the shortage of gas emerged as a problem in recent past. It is just a matter of half a decade when for the first time Pakistan came across low gas pressure or a supply below demand. There have been multiple reasons like water shortage, increasing population and thus the increasing demands of energy, electrification and gas supply to more areas least caring the magnitude of reservoirs and above all mismanagement. Poor governance political appointments and wastage have been aggravating the situation. It was just a few years back when Pakistan started thinking about alternate resources of energy in the form of wind, solar and biogas, but, without any right direction. Numerous institutions were set up and so called experts and consultants were hired on hefty salaries. However, power generation remained a dream.
